Hechlingen—Training Areas

In these photos I've tried to capture as much of the training areas as possible and describe them for those of you who want to know what the Enduro Park is all about. Hopefully, I'll have a copy of the site map soon up so that you can see the area's layout.

I also hope to go back soon and take some 360 degree pictures of the area. But until that day, read on....

Photo - Meeting Area

This is a picture of the meeting area shot from the top of a small hill/jump.
We often ride over this hill/jump to and from other areas or as part of a drill.
As you can see the rain has collected into nice muddy puddles which we traverse.
The instructors love getting us wet and muddy.

Photo - U-turn hill and bumps

This is a section of the main training ground. We alternatively go up the hill onto the road that
leads up to other sections of the grounds, or round off the hill by riding high on the banks in a U fashion,
or go over the bumps at the bottom through the pylons to throw in some small obstacles.

Photo - Left and Right (overlapping) - Center field area

There is a large flat riding area where everybody goes though or around. When you're waiting to do more difficult drills, the instructors
will have us ride in line or in a circle until it's your turn. Flat as it is there is always something to practice from turns to braking to balance.

Photo - muddy ruts and jumps

This obstacle has muddy ruts and bumps of different sizes and 'slosh' factors.
We ride though these during drills and whenever you're traversing the range.
See how wet and deep the track on the right it? Don't bog or you'll be in trouble.

Photo - central range

A little dark but you can see the range and the bikes in this shot.

Photo - Hill climbs, lower section

This was taken from a raised section where a sand pit is. Looking back if you go up those hills
you start to reach the back end of the training range. The upper levels are filled with rocky climbs,
sand, and muddy traverses. We also practice downhill braking and stopping anywhere there is a downhill such as here.

Photo - Muddy Trails

These are some rut lines that we practice riding in. We were lucky that it rained to make it even more fun.
We also practice stopping on the uphill and lowering the bike down with clutch or brakes.

Photo - Sand Pit

This is the sand pit next to the lower training area.
I love doing the sand even if we only have a little bit of it at Hechlingen.
Remember, front wheel light, weight back, and stay on the gas!

Photo - Sand Pit - end view

See the muddy stuff to the right. There is no end of fun stuff to ride through at Hechlingen.

Photo - Water Training

This is a water crossing training area. It is fairly deep and gravelly on the bottom.
You can practice water x-ing here as well as riding with your boots on the seat (so you don't get wet).
This is another obstacle that I really love.
