Day 4 - Las Vegas to LA, After Soda Lake

After the Soda Lake experience (recommended!) I decided to try to stick to better marked trails the rest of the way into LA. I didn't have a detailed map but took some rough notes and decided to figure the rest out as I went along

Using the power lines, which become more abundant as I got closer to LA, I figured that I could ride up to the city limits
until the land access issues became more difficult. These powerlines ran through some fields that were being watered. I didn't
know if I was wanted here or not so I made it through quickly, better safe than sorry..

The closer to LA one gets the more interesting the industrial complexes in the middle of the desert get.
I haven't looked up what all of the businesses that I saw do but I don't think that this is a meth lab.

I also got the chance to run on some BLM trails which afforded nice sunsets and smooth wide gravel roads.

This was taken at sunset. You can see the oil pressure light on my dash light is on.
This is a malfunction that we still haven't worked out yet but then again that's what these test rides are about.

For the rest of the ride into LA, I hooked up on the freeway from Apple Valley on in. It was nighttime and I was interested in getting to the hotel to catch up on some badly needed sleep. The bike was caked in clay and alkaline that I tried to wash off at a rest stop but that would require a full 1-2 hours to really get clean. I only had a few bruises and other bumps, it had been a great ride and while I could have taken more pictures of the various sections, you'll just have to go and ride this area yourselves to get a sense of how amazing it is. :-)
