BMW Biker's Meeting, Seefeld, Austria, July 2001

Photo - Road into Seefeld

The road into Seefeld ran right by the BMW paddock and meeting area.
Signup was easy but event organization (i.e. assistance in hooking up with various rides)
left a little bit to be desired.

This is a shot of the BMW C1 testing area and 'off-road' testing area where
Andrea Mayer did a slow-ride test. The C1 area was also used for JP Goy
the French stuntman who rode his modified F650Gs to huge applause.

The bike parking area in the morning. Believe me it got crowded!

BMW's hand pinstripes being put on by the legendary factory painters.

Photo-BMW band and beer tent area

This is the area where the band played and the food and beer was served.
As you can see on Friday morning/afternoon it was empty so I got bored.
If I only had waited around instead of going riding I wouldn't have broken my leg (more on this later).

Photo - BMW Z8

Okay. With few exceptions (Ferrari, Mercedes GTR)  I do crave a BMW Z8.
This one was nice, except they forgot to leave me the keys.

Photo - Boxer Cup racers

After canceling the factory sponsored rallye racing program, BMW created and dominated the Boxer Cup (well there only were BMW's racing).
This series features R1100S bikes with former world champions racing against each other.
On display at Seefeld were Kevin Schwantz's and Randy Mamola's bikes.

Photo - DHP Rallye bike in the Austrian forest

Friday morning was very boring. There were few people around so I took off to explore any dirt roads that I could find.
I was later told that off-road riding in Austria is basically illegal and most people are shot at!
Regardless I was able to find some roads but just when they got good they were usually blocked off. (bummer!)
