R900RR Cockpit - Detailed Photos from the 2001 Barcelona Motorcycle show
Picture 1 - Rider's View
The BIG roadbook is marked by the rider for turn and course
information.
The boxes at the top are speed, course, and other readouts while the orange
light
(I think) is for shift out indication. The GPS and timer goes in the center
rubber mount.
(You can't see it in this picture but part of the front of the fairing is custom carbon fiber not plastic)
Picture 2 - Cockpit (closeup)
Simply another view of the cockpit instrumentation.
Notice the sunscreen lip on top of the readouts. Important!
Picture 3 - Mounting perch
This was one of the impressive pieces of fabrication on the
bike. Look at the custom mount
for the roadbook and cockpit instrumentation. It's very solid construction to
say the least.
In the background you can see the carbon fiber weave of the front windscreen.
Picture 4 - Mounting perch
In this picture you can clearly see the amount of heavy-duty
hardware that goes into attaching
the instrumentation to the top of the triple clamp. Not only must this be strong
but it has to be
easy to disassemble quickly for access to the suspension components.
Picture 5 - Air filter
This boxer has no problems breathing at all. The air filter is
completely exposed to fully
ventilate the engine. Of course being factory supported means getting a new one
every night!
For nice details look at the small cable routing clamps and tie downs. No detail is spared.
Also look at the custom pieces which raise the handlebar from the triple clamps, very nice!
